I enjoy making things with my hands. After receiving a M.F.A. (acronym for Mighty Fine Attendance) in sculpture from Ohio State, I worked in various design areas, architecture, interior and advertising. As I climbed the ladder, it felt as if I were getting farther from my artistic training. I left my executive position as Advertising Manager for a chain of discount stores and became a professional jeweler. I did miss the two martini lunches but the joy of getting my hands dirty eventually overcame that shortcoming. While jewelry has been my livelihood for thirty years, I have also worked with photography and other art forms. Recently I had the good fortune to establish a studio where I can weld sculpture, fabricate jewelry, and do photography.

My studio is located in the artist's community, Wildflower Village, 4335 West Fourth St. Reno.

Photography has been a major interest all of my life, primarily in black and white because of its flexibility. I am currently working on a series, Foto-Forms, which is a combination of sculpture and photographic image.

In jewelry, I fabricate using sheet and wire and also cast using the lost wax method, including a process that allows me to cast a three-dimensional form from a photograph or drawing. I work in both gold and silver and like to add nontraditional metals such as antique square nails.

The only message in my work is an unconventional but rational approach to beauty utilizing the inherent properties of the material.
